About the Artist

At the intersection of sculpture, texture, and cosmic imagination.

George El Khoury is a Lebanese-born Austrian artist working at the intersection of sculpture, texture, and cosmic imagination. Raised in Beirut and long rooted in Austria, his work is driven by a lifelong fascination with space, the origins of the universe, and the forces that shape existence.

With over 22 years as an award-winning Creative Director working with global brands across Europe and the MENA region, George developed a rigorous visual discipline that sharpened rather than replaced his artistic instinct. The two were never separate.

His pieces are not painted so much as built: surfaces that breathe, ripple, and pulse, as if caught mid-motion, mid-formation. Geological and celestial at once. A recurring presence across the work is a single glowing orb, red, radiant, unmistakable, suspended at the centre of vast turbulent fields of texture. A sun. A seed. A point of origin.

My Passion for Creation

A lifelong conversation with the universe.

There are people who find their calling. And then there are people who were born already looking for it, staring up at the night sky, asking questions too big for words.

I was that child.

Long before I ever held a tool with purpose, I was transfixed by space. By the sheer, breathtaking scale of the universe: the way a galaxy could be both impossibly vast and achingly beautiful at the same time. The way light from a star could travel billions of years just to reach my eyes. That feeling of wonder, so deep it almost hurts, never left me.

It became the invisible engine behind everything I create.

When I found art, I realised I wasn't learning something new. I was finding the language for something I had always felt. My hands reaching into material, building up, tearing back, layering texture upon texture, carried the same instinct I had as a boy pressing my face against the cold glass of a window, staring at the dark.

Every work I build carries a piece of that wonder. The cosmos taught me that nothing is accidental. That light, form, mass, and movement all carry meaning. I simply try to honour that truth with my hands.

This is not a pursuit. It never was. It is a lifelong conversation with the universe. Art is how I speak back.

Artistic Practice

Sculptural mixed media on wood panel.

George works in sculptural mixed media on wood panel, combining acrylic, gypsum plaster, and carved polystyrene to build physical surfaces that carry the visual weight of cosmic events. His process is additive and instinctive: materials are layered, carved, pressed, and painted, creating works with pronounced physical depth that shift with the light of the room they inhabit.

His palette is deliberately restrained: deep blacks, volcanic greys, smouldering golds, and the occasional eruption of crimson or purple, allowing texture and form to carry the emotional register rather than colour alone. The red orb, his signature focal element, functions as both subject and symbol: a moment of energy at the centre of immensity.

His works invite the viewer to look into the surface, not merely at it, to feel the pull of something forming, something arriving, something that has only just begun.

"I am not painting the universe. I am trying to remember what it felt like to first understand that it exists, and that I exist within it. Every work is an attempt to hold that moment still long enough to look at it."
